i went on this one site, www.world-results.net Poland has a way better ranking on here. The table is based on friendlies and minor cup matches from 1872 to the present. Team P W D L GF GA GDIF PTS % 1 England 618 353 143 122 1460 685 +775 1202 64.8 2 Sweden 624 303 142 179 1368 898 +470 1051 56.1 3 Hungary 524 250 120 154 1129 806 +323 870 55.3 4 Brazil 408 253 95 60 871 396 +475 854 69.8 5 Argentina 467 222 131 114 782 528 +254 797 56.9 6 Scotland 464 224 100 140 904 602 +302 772 55.5 7 Denmark 460 219 82 159 893 671 +222 739 53.6 8 Poland 447 184 114 149 782 686 +96 666 49.7 9 Italy 332 169 93 70 568 368 +200 600 60.2 10 Norway 471 163 111 197 766 907 -141 600 42.5

Yea but that ranking doesn't imply who is good now...just who has been good. Even based on that it's not worthwhile to measure success from 1872 because much has changed, countries have changed...I mean just looking at that you can see England has played almost 300 games more than Italy during that span...how useful can that information really be? Maybe post-war statistics would be better indicative since of course thats around the time Euro was introduced and more countries got involved. Does it really prove much pre-war considering the different economic conditions of each country?
You can't really tell me it was a level playing field given some countries (like ours) were having to deal with warfare and had other things to do at the time than soccer, as opposed to countries in Western and Northern Europe that came away from the war with minimal damage (at least relatively anyway).
So I notice you said friendlies and minor cup matches only...then I can see why England may be so high up. After all, they are great at winning when everything isn't on the line. Seems a tad convenient for the English to leave out important matches like World Cups or qualifiers. But why would Brazil with the highest win% be lower than England? Odd rankings....or maybe they are just biased.

Poland hasn't really been a bad team....can you really name 10 countries who have been better over that span, in friendlies? It would be close but we would be around 10th give or take a few spots so I don't think it's too far in that regard but these rankings are way off.

Too bad for Canada. CONCACAF is too corrupt for them to ever have much of a chance to move up.

Poland should - and will be - top 20. Who cares if there are 200 teams in FIFA. Realistically, the cut off should be 100. After 100, you are getting into teams that either a) don't know how to play soccer, or b) don't care about soccer.
Poland has a good team but magically 1 bad game in the World Cup is enough for us to drop and Ecuador to jump ahead? Even though we went toe-to-toe with England during qualifying while Ecuador hid in the high peaks during theirs? THAT is the real joke to me. All the new rankings did was push the USA out of the top 20, aside from that it is all the same.

Again, I said it was only one bad game we played. Heck, more like one bad half combined with a very bad offside call. But that's besides the point, how can one bad game have such a huge effect on us dropping at least 5 spots. Stupid.
